Nathan Bass

Foil Coach

 

Nathan has been fencing foil for over 20 years.  He trained for a few years under Maestro Leonid Shapiro out of RFC.  He was a founding member of Three Rivers Fencing Club in Midland, Michigan.  He instructed fencing courses and coached at Central Michigan University for 5 years.

Jonathan Owens-

Coach & Armorer

 

Jonathan has been fencing since 2007.  He is currently coaching the intermediate and advanced classes.

Zachary Green-

Coach

 

Zach began fencing in 2010 and hasn't looked back.  He is rated in all three weapons and has attended two Junior Olympics.  He is currently coaching the beginner class.

I connected with BRFA in September 2017 in response to my son's interest in the sport.  I enjoy seeing his skills grow and the friends he's made at the club.  We live in Mt. Pleasant and look forward to many years of fun.

Carrie Owens-

Treasurer

 

Carrie has been fencing since 2007 and is a Nationally rated fencer. She was also awarded the Michigan Division Iron Woman of the Year award in 2014, 2019, and 2020.

Scott Green

Tournament Director

 

Scott has been involved as a club volunteer since 2010 due to his son, Zachary's, involvement in fencing.  In 2016,  Scott made the jump and started fencing himself.

Tom Evangelisti  2017
"The Next Touch."

Though Tom got involved in fencing in his later years, his love for fencing caused him to be quite active in USA Fencing both on the Divisional and National levels.  He held office of Division Chair for multiple years.  Tom competed in all three weapons over the years , but  settled down to fencing, almost exclusively, foil.  He  was dedicated to teaching others the sport he loves.
